Paul Kelly inducted at EGAwards

Melbourne’s annual EG Awards were held last night at the Prince Of Wales in St Kilda, where Australia’s ‘Father Of Folk’ Paul Kelly was inducted into the EG ‘Steve Waldon’ Hall of Fame (named in honour of the late Age journalist and former EG editor).

There were performances throughout the night from Gareth Liddiard, Adalita, Dan Kelly, Washington, Spencer P Jones who each played one original song and a Paul Kelly cover. There was also two surprise performances by Tim Rogers and Evan Dando, with Dando doing a rousing rendition of From St Kilda To Kings Cross.

The publicly vote awards attracted a record 45,000 votes at The Age online, which according to CEO of Music Victoria and ex-EG Editor Patrick Donovan has helped cement their “reputation of the EG Awards night gig as one of the best events of the year for music lovers.’’
