Best New Year’s Eve partiesin Brisbane

Want to avoid a fizzler of a New Year’s Eve party? Here’s FLs top picks of places to ring in 2011.

NO YEARS

From the creative masterminds who have exposed our city to Metronomy, Health and Yacht, No Years mini-festival at Brisbane Powerhouse is our top pick.

For its inagural year, No Years boasts an impressively eclectic lineup headlined by Swedish indie-rockers Shout Out Louds. With their latest album Work hitting stores earlier this year, they’re ready to show off to their new tunes to local fans and bring in the New Year in style.

Other highlights include lo-fi Texans Neon Indian performing their much lauded debut record Psychic Chasms which has received praise from both Rolling Stone and Pitchfork.
No Years will also be providing free buses from Brisbane Powerhouse to Brunswick St from 12.30am – 3am. Check the full lineup below, and purchase tickets from Brisbane Powerhouse.

Held from 27 December 2010 through to 1 January 2011, Woodford has a reputation for incredible NYE parties that run well into the new year.

WOODLAND BAR

If you’re brave enough to party smack bang in the middle of Fortitude Valley, your best bets are Woodland Bar and The Zoo.

THE DEPOT

Gone are the regular indie club nights at The Depot. These days if you want to dance to guitars you’ll find Brisbane’s own gypsy club coming out of retirement for special occasions and public holidays.

This New Years Eve The Depot joins forces with The Zoo, featuring a stellar lineup of rock n roll DJs and opening the downstairs area to provide some breathing space on what is more than likely to be a steamy summer’s night.
