De La Soul sideshows

Hip hop icons, De La Soul will be supporting Gorillaz tour this December and appearing on the Playground Weekender 2011 lineup, but until now having a ticket to either of these gigs was the only way to secure your De La dose.

As 2011 marks the 20th anniversary of ground-breaking De La Soul Is Dead album and the trio is celebrating with live performances of the entire record in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth supported by Prince Paul and other special guests to be announced.

De La Soul sideshows:

Thursday 10th February – The Enmore, Sydney
Friday 11th February – The Billboard Venue, Melbourne
Saturday 12th February – Metro City Perth, Perth

Melbourne tickets on sale Monday 13th; Sydney on sale Tuesday 14th; Perth on sale Friday 17th December

Heh. I went to the 20th anniversary tour of 3 Feet High and Rising last year.

I wonder if they're going to spend the next decade doing 20th anniversary tours?

The 20th anniversary tour of Stakes is High in 2016 will be a cracker!

I am already there. Good that is at the Enmore. The two times I have seen them were both at the Metro and while they were great shows they were fuking packed to the gills.

Is there a review coming for this show?
It was way better at the Enmore than the Metro for mine.
It was a privilege really that Prince Paul filled in as DJ for Maseo (who had his flight cancelled). A bit disappointing for me though because Mase is a funny guy and I really like his style.

A good few songs from Stakes Is High in the mix which I thought was excellent.

i can't say for sydney, but i'll hopefully be posting one for the perth gig. gotta say i was disappointed though, for a tour claiming to feature 'de la soul is dead performed in its entirety from start to finish' (found on their promoter's page: http://www.peacemusic.com.au/), they only played six songs from that particular album. sure, the gig was enjoyable, but it could have been so much more and i can't help but feel a little ripped off. it was way too similar to the gorillaz support gigs and just not what they said it would be.

still, at least we had maseo.

Yeah, I was surprised that there was not more tribute to "De La Soul Is Dead" but I did like the mix in the set.

With all the skits and bits and pieces it would be a hard album to do live anyway.
