The Temper Trap earn big andpen new songs

The Temper Trap has debuted at number 40 on BRW Top 50 Australian Entertainers list, joining ACDC and The Wiggles in the top earners club.
According to industry rag TMN, the band earnt $2.5 million dollars in the last financial year. Not bad for a couple of blokes currently shacked up in Hackney.
While it seems like a fast rise to fame and fortune, the band actually formed way back in 2004 as Temper Temper and after a name change and line-up reshuffle went on to release their debut record Conditions in 2009.
When speaking with FasterLouder recently, guitarist Lorenzo Sillitto revealed that after playing the Conditions songs live for nearly two years, the band is finally beginning to pen some new tunes: “The songs that we’ve made are quite different; they would be good to have on the album. But again I think it’s a matter of seeing what else we come up with and seeing how they work against some other songs.”
He also talked about the new direction the band is moving in: “We have this one song that’s 7 minutes long. It’s quite a departure from what we have been doing and we have been playing it…This time it’s been a little bit darker. I don’t think there has been any reason why there is that kind of sound. When we were in the studio sitting down, we just kind of had this darker sound come up and it’s just what we went with. It developed in that way with that intense feel. Whether or not that’s what we go for it’s just hard to tell.”
And though these new tracks are not yet confirmed as part of the band’s highly anticipated second album they are sure to help get them back into the BRW list next year. Definitely wouldn’t hurt if they could nab another Hollywood soundtrack as well:
