Washington cancels QMFperformance, Bowditch steps in

Megan Washington has pulled out of her scheduled performance at this weekend’s Queenscliff Music Festival due to illness.
Washington, who has just completed a rapid run of international shows in Paris, London and New York in just 6 days, has received medical advice that she should not perform.
Recently announced on the 2011 Big Day Out line-up , it is the first set of shows the ubiquitous ARIA award-winner has cancelled in 3 years of touring.
In a major coup for the festival though, Clare Bowditch and the New Slang will step in for Washington on Sunday’s program.
Bowditch and her band recently supported Leonard Cohen on his tour around Australia and serve as a fitting and high-profile replacement.
The festival, which kicks off tonight and continues until Sunday afternoon, already boasts a line-up that includes the likes of Little Red, Gareth Liddiard, Sally Seltmann, The Vasco Era, The Meanies, Pikelet, Colin Hay and Dan Kelly’s Dream Band among many others.
Some tickets for the weekend are still available , while the full festival program can be found here
