ZZ Top added to Bluesfest
Thu 25th Nov, 2010 in Local News
Speaking to FasterLouder earlier this month about the Bluesfest lineup organiser Peter Noble revealed that “ the second announcement so far is just as good as the first” and considering the first round lineup includes Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, BB King and more that’s quite a boast.
Today the first taste of the second lineup leaked with the news that Texan trio ZZ Top – Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard (the one without a beard) – will join the bill. The blues rockers are currently working producer extraordinaire Rick Rubin on their first album since 2003’s Mescalero. The news was leaked via the band’s website before the festival was ready to announce the lineup’s second round of acts.
Confirming the news Bluesfest organizer Peter Noble told Undercover that “I don’t have the second announcement ready yet. People think us festival directors have this magical things where we bring them out of a pre-destined date that will be the correct date to get the most press and I have got to blow that right now. We announce when we have enough artists confirmed to make the announcement make sense that I don’t quite have today.”
Following the announcement of the West Coast Blues lineup earlier today it appears that reggae legends Toots And The Maytals are also likely to be added to the Byron Bay festival.
In other Bluesfest news folk rock duo the Indigo Girls have announced sideshows:
