Cyndi Lauper sings the Blues

Cyndi Lauper is set to show her true colours down under in March 2011 with a series of Theatre shows that fall suspiciously close to the Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival.

While the timing of her tour may just be a coincidence, the 80s pop icon has just released her eleventh studio album Memphis Blues, on which she collaborates with a number of well known artists including Blues Fest headliner BB King.

The new record sees Lauper eschew her pop past in favour of some sassy Southern Soul, and has already become the singer’s most successful release since her debut album’s True Colours and She’s So Unsual.

You can catch Lauper singing the Blues down under on these dates:

Monday 28th March – Queensland Performing Arts Centre, Brisbane
Thursday 31st March – State Theatre, Sydney
Friday 1st April – State Theatre, Sydney
Saturday 2nd April – Newcastle Entertainment Centre, Newcastle
Tuesday 5th April – Burswood Theatre, Perth
Friday 8th April – Palais Theatre, Melbourne
Saturday 9th April – Palais Theatre, Melbourne
Monday 11th April – Thebarton Theatre, Adelaide

where do they get their info? a simple search on the bluesfest website would reveals that bluesfest takes place from the 22nd onwards an entire 11 days after laupers final date on the 11th. suspiciously close? i think not.

it's close, but bluesfest starts on the 22nd. most artists schedule dates closer than that? and most artists announce sideshows after they get announced on the festival bill? would be interesting though. do you know something i don't sarahanne?

Blues fest starts on the 21st.
She's touring a blues album
An album that features a Blues feat headliner.
Australia, especially Byron Bay, is a fairly good place to take a week holiday in April.

Not that long a bow! And we can hope can't we!

It's a five day festival - Thursday April 21 through to Monday April 25, 2011.

sorry dude. apologies. after the initial post of 22nd i saw on my calendar it was 22nd as well. but that calendar would be from this year! : ) i know the festival well - hopefully i can make it!! : )
