November is Ausmusic Month on triple j, and to kick off the 30 day celebration of all tunes green and gold, the station has announced its list of ‘Next Crop’ artists.

Last year the annual list of up and coming Aussie bands included: Washington, Boy & Bear, Hungry Kids of Hungary and Jonathan Boulet, all of who went on to release albums, sell out shows and even get nominated for ARIAs.

The band’s that triple j think will be making waves in 2011 are:

Ball Park Music
Seven
Flight Facilities
Super Wild Horses
Eagle & The Worm
Big Scary
Kimbra
Gypsy & The Cat
Yolanda Be Cool
The Mission In Motion
Dialectrix
Papa Vs Pretty
The Jezabels
Stonefield
Kyu
Ngaiire

Emperors

To celebrate Ausmusic Month, the j’s are also holding a mega party in Sydney tonight at The Metro with Bag Raiders and The Holidays, and on Wednesday 17th in Brisbane at The HiFi with John Steele Singers, Hungry Kids of Hungary and more.

I also reckon Gypsy.

Also, generic comment involving a list.

Also, fuck Young Revelry.

I think I saw Gypsy and The Cat support Foals in Sydney. I thought they were awful. Music derivative of the bad part of the 80s. Good musos, just uninspiring, derivative tunes. Personal opinion of course,

Really? I could have sworn you were giving someone else's opinion, very glad you clarified.

It's not just personal opinion - it's a widely known fact. Gypsy are so woeful live they make MGMT look good. But that's what happens when a band is suddenly manufactured and dumped on an unsuspecting world.

Ignore Gypsy and Cat - Eagle and Worm are where it's at in the new crop of 'x and y' bands.

I saw them in Melbourne for foals and at splendour while waiting for someone else, I thought they were dreadful, don't like the music or the live act, however they seem to be a band who have a fair sized following, so they must have something going for them.

No, no, they became Stonefield. They were Iotah.

Nothing but love for iOTA, btw - he was incredible as Frank-N-Furter a few years back.

Sweet band, anyway - "Through the Clover" is boss.

Oh it all comes out now! I have to say the lead singer of Eagle and the Worm sings worse than me, and plays guitar like he starting self teaching when the band began. And simply they are not tight enough live to pull off what I admit would make an incredible recording but can be utter ear torture when they get it wrong. And yes I re-assert. You can write a song that you are unable to play. Its called music theory = ).

I saw GATC at Parklife. I wasn't interested in them but I didn't think they were as bad as everyone is making them out to be.
