Perth International ArtsFestival 2011 lineup

The impressive lineup of musical treats for Perth’s International Arts Festival has been revealed.

Kicking off with the deep funk of Roy Ayers on the opening night the festival boasts performances from Martha Wainwright, Joanna Newsom and Best Coast.

There are also impressive double bills as Caribou and Four Tet team up for a night of electronic wonders and the Models and Dave Mason from The Reels present a night of Australian post-punk and new wave with performances of the albums Local &/or General and Quasimoto’s Dream.

Other acts on the bill include shoegaze legends Swervedriver; experimental pop masters The Books; New Zealand’s indie-rock heros The Bats; the ‘50s rockabilly of Imelda May, one time Miles Davis and John Coltrane drummer Jack DeJohnette; and the pulsating Syrian techno of the mighty Omar Souleyman.

The Unthanks, The Public Opinion Afro Orchestra, Tunng, Archie Roach, Wildbirds & Peacedrums and Amiina will also venture to Perth for the festival before Brazilian Tropicalia pioneers Os Mutantes close the festival with a set of psychedelic bliss.

Perth International Arts Festival runs from Saturday 12th February until Sunday 6th March.

Yo dudes.

The Perth International Arts Festival just revealed who'll be playing at Beck's Music Box next year so logic would dictate their all probably playing shows in the rest of the country as well.

So get excited?

I'm excited about Best Coast and Os Mutantes.

I'll probably wind up going to Caribou/Four Tet as well since you all speak so highly of them.

So shattered the Caribou/Four Tet show is missing SA. Addition to fringe festival too hopeful?
Best Coast would be awesome too.

I think just Tunng for me. Might catch Martha Wainwright and maybe the Four Tet/Caribou double. Martha is doing 2 shows btw, which is pretty cool.

The Models and Dave Mason (The Reels) show has been cancelled.

James' untimely passing has left us devastated and in shock; the messages of love and support are greatly appreciated. As a mark of respect for James and his family, we've decided to postpone our recently advertised shows of February 2011 with Dave Mason of The Reels. We regret any inconvenience caused and thank those who were to be involved for their efforts and support. James' soul is at peace now, our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
