It's going to seem like a fairly weak day to most people because so much of the reason my day was so good was because Leftfield played.

The day differed from most festivals because I went with a decent size group. After becoming accustomed to the mud, I convinced one person to break away from the pack with me.

We headed straight to the Likes of You tent. Bar lines were non-existant and the grass in the tent provided some relief from the mud bath.

Loco Dice had a good hour left in his set when we arrived at the stage. I don't listen to much minimal or tech, but I'd heard good things and he delivered as such. The tent was fairly empty, but everyone was dancing.

For a good month prior to Future I wasn't able to go a full day without listening to at least one of Leftfield's ablums. This meant my anticipation for their set was probably greater than I've ever experienced. I basically knew the setlist by heart prior to the festival, but I wasn't expecting it to build so much. The atmosphere in the tent when they opened with Song for Life was akin to the beginning of Orbital's set at Family last year. Pure adulation from fans who had waited a long time between drinks (or in this case, for their first one). Their is true brilliance in the way their set continues to build for the full 90 minutes. Space Shanty and Phat Planet (the closing and encore songs) are so good live it's a waste of time even listening to the recorded versions.

The highlight of the set (and day) for me was being broadcast on the side screens for basically all of Inspection. It's also a good feeling when you introduce someone to an act like that and they are immediately hooked.

Things got a bit out of hand after Leftfield. We took our enhanced state of being back to the main stages. To be honest, I don't rate any of the acts I saw afterwards. It was just good, loose fun running around the different stages, going on rides, and eventually bumping into the rest of the crew at the perfect time.

Like I said, it was probably my favourite dance festival. I've had better overall days of music at dance festivals, but Faithless and Orbital are the only two dance acts that rival Leftfield, and neither of them have really played an Australian dance* festival in my time.

*I don't consider Good Vibes a 'dance' festival.
