In a nice bit of symmetry, as Powderfinger completes a final lap of the country it seems that the band that broke up after supporting them in 1998 will be making a return.
Swervedriver supported Powderfinger on their nationwide Internationalist tour in 1998, but after a final show in West Australia in December that year the English shoegazers went on a hiatus that lasted nearly a decade.
In 2008 the band reformed for a world tour, which included a performance at Coachella and the reissuing of the band’s first three albums.
Swervedriver tour:
Wednesday 16 February – The Zoo, Brisbane
Friday 18 February – The Metro, Sydney
Saturday 19 February – The Corner Hotel, Melbourne
Sunday 20 February – Becks Music Box, Perth International Arts Festival
