Washington dominates ARIAnominations
Tue 28th Sep, 2010 in Local News
The nominations for the 2010 ARIA awards were announced at a ceremony held in Sydney this afternoon, where Washington dominated the proceedings picking up six nominations for her debut album I Believe You Liar.
The nominations threw up a mix batch of old-faces and up-and-comers with Sydney’s Philadelphia Grand Jury and Blue Mountain urchins Cloud Control both getting recognition in the Breakthrough Artist category.
Last year’s ARIA awards ceremony closers The Temper Trap are up against a semi-retired Powderfinger and Perth rockers Birds Of Tokyo for Best Group, however missed out on a nomination for Album Of The Year.
Our two favourite Dans, Dan Sultan and Dan Kelly will be battling it out against Paul Dempsey and, er, Guy Sebastian for Best Male Artist and AMP award winner Lisa Mitchell will be facing off against Kylie Minogue, Clare Bowditch Washington and the multi-nominated Sia for Best Female.
