Leonard Cohen at Hanging Rock
Tue 28th Sep, 2010 in Local News
In what is sure to be one of the most breathtaking musical events of the year, Frontier touring has announced that as part of his November Australian tour Leonard Cohen will be playing a twilight concert at Hanging Rock with Paul Kelly, Clare Bowditch and Dan Sultan.
If ever there was a setting for Cohen and Kelly’s music, then Hanging Rock is it. The rock itself sits just outside of Woodend in regional Victoria and became part of Australian folk lore following the publishing of the novel, and later Peter Weir’s iconic fim, Picnic At Hanging Rock.
The performance will be the first of a special series that promoter Michael Gudinski has had approved to be held at the rock. He told The Age “I’ve been trying for years to talk with the council about how to utilise this area. The rock itself is a treasure. So we are going for more older-appealing heritage acts.”
Leonard Cohen at Hanging Rock with special guests Paul Kelly, Clare Bowditch and Dan Sultan will take place on Saturday 20th November at Hanging Rock, Woodened.
Presale tickets are available via the Frontier Touring website from Midday Wednesday 29th September until the same time on Thursday 30th September. General tickets on sale from 9am Monday 4th October.
