The Key of Sea collaborationalbum
Fri 24th Sep, 2010 in Local News
In what will be a veritable pot-pourri of cultural synthesis, well-known Aussie acts have recorded The Key of Sea, an album featuring collaborations with some of Australia’s finest migrant and refugee musicians.
Born from the simple idea of having a group of successful local acts join forces with musicians who have brought their musical skills to our shores, The Key of Sea is an album of cultural exploration with an emphasis on the universal art of storytelling. With each track weaving a different tale, the record will consist of collaborations that are beautiful, fun and sometimes heartbreaking.
The album, which is set for release on November 11, will feature songs by Sarah Blasko and Ajak Kwai (Sudan); The Cat Empire and Anbessa Gebrehiwot (Ethiopia); Tim Rogers and Mortika Rebetiki (Greece); Old Man River and Javier Fredes (Chile); Katie Noonan and Taikoz; Philadelphia Grand Jury and Klezmania; Blue King Brown and Diafrix; Oh Mercy and Nadia Omar (Pakistan); and The Vasco Era and Yousif Aziz (Iraq) with more to be announced.
This musical meeting of minds will be officially launched in Melbourne at the Prince of Wales Hotel in St. Kilda on Thursday 11th November with live performances from some of the artists.
