Soundscape Festival lineup

The all-ages festival Soundscape Festival in Hobart on Saturday 8th January boasts international lineup of bands including indie faves Mystery Jets and Born Ruffians.

While these acts have all been announced on other Summer festival lineups including Peats Ridge and Pyramid the big suprise on the bill is the appearance of hip hop great Mos Def – who had been expected by some punters to be announced as a guest on the Gorillaz tour in December.

The festival lineup also includes a DJ set from Basement Jaxx plus locals Midnight Juggernauts, Sparkadia, Blue King Brown, Operator Please, Dexter and more.

The Soundscape Festival comes to the Hobart Regatta Grounds on Saturday 8th January 2011, with this very solid line-up.

well... the major difference is this. live, they have a band. dj set, they play with record players by themselves

I'd never see Jaxx if they weren't playing live, tbh.

Yeah full band, not sure how many, plus guests doing the vocals, from memory ones on synths, ones on programming/laptop/samples duties. Never seen them DJ before so not sure what they would be like, probably just a history set with other tracks thrown in.

I've seen Basement Jaxx - they're pretty cool onstage - have some awesome singers.

But Mos Def - fucking awesome! he turned up at DJ Shadow's gig at splendour and at his concert in brisbane - amazing! sooo good.

Saw Basement Jaxx last year at good vibes. They have one guy on the synth and another mixing plus two fat black chicks, one skinny hot as FUCK one, a black brick-shithouse guy and a skinny white guy. TBH 3/4 of the fun of them was the visuals created by all the people on stage, the actual electronica didn't tickle my fancy.

No Mos, no Sparkadia.

The Soundscape Festival and Sparkadia regret the announcement that Sparkadia have had to cancel their Australian tour.

Due to personal reasons Sparkadia are no longer able to embark on their 2011 summer tour. Some times we forget that rockstars are just mere mortals like us. They are also subjected to the issues that affect us all.

Sparkadia send their sincerest apologies. This was unavoidable and they're disappointed as they love a trip to Tassie and in particular their adoring fan base. Sparkadia also appreciate the understanding and once again they're very sorry.

So for now we let Sparkadia have 'Sparkadia time' and they've assured us they'll be back in Hobart in 2011 with heaps of surprises and a new album!
