Linkin Park locks in Decembertour dates

Cancel the front row seats and jacuzzi you had planned for the Bon Jovi tour, ‘cause Linkin Park is indeed coming this summer. An announcement this afternoon confirms five arena shows around Australia in December for the Californian angst idols.

Linkin Park is touring its new album A Thousand Suns, which sees the band regrouping with Rick Rubin after 2007’s Minutes To Midnight. Don’t expect early-2000s throwbacks, though. “I made my mind up three years ago: I don’t want to scream any more,” Chester Bennington told the Los Angeles Times this week.

No doubt he’ll make an exception when it’s time to unleash some of the older Linkin Park numbers on the December circuit…

Linkin Park tour dates:

Friday 3 December – Brisbane Entertainment Centre
Tuesday 7 December – Burswood Dome, Perth
Thursday 9 December – Adelaide Entertainment Centre
Saturday 11 December – Acer Arena, Sydney
Monday 13 December – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne

My hatred of Bon Jovi is well documented. I also enjoy Linkin Park - not nearly as much as I used to, but I don't hate them at all.

Stefan Beck

Stefan Beck said on the 14th Sep, 2010

I'll be honest,I've never really understood your seething hatred of Bon Jovi.

They aren't great band but they've done some solid work in the vein of "cock rock" and they seem like pretty personable dudes.

MorningAfterboy

MorningAfterboy said on the 14th Sep, 2010

Really? They seem like the biggest douchebags on the planet.

I hate 90% of that era of shitty hair-metal/stadium rock - Poison, Whitesnake, KISS, Winger, et al.

tyler07

Just answered my own question,

you got them from the fan club pre-sale and they cost you $132 each.

I can see Coppel having a tough time moving these tix at this price.

U2, Gorillaz, Bon Jovi, Muse and now Linkin Park all playing the same week/weekend in Melbourne and all the while im going to be at Meredith. Im so very happy with the choice i've made.

sarcasm_mister

sarcasm_mister said on the 15th Sep, 2010

132!!! im planning on buying tickets for a friend for his 21st. but tickets for both of us plus the bullshit fees. im looking at 270+ for a band i stopped loving 5yrs ago.

plus $1 to be donated to charity. thats a great gesture but $1 out of 132 sounds like a bit of an insult. but i guess thats better than nothing.

benr3

benr3 said on the 15th Sep, 2010

My sentiments exactly!

Hate to break it to you but it'll cost you $300 if you wait for the ticketek pre sale, $132 is a fan club special price.

mattchew

mattchew said on the 16th Sep, 2010

you get a presale password if you bought their new album from their site or if your a member of the lp underground thing... i bought the cd. it cost me $280 for two tickets including booking fees and postage... i think can get a visa presale this friday.

fuck linkin park i used to love them but they now seem money hungry. presale costs 20 on top of the high cost of the ticket and booking fee and pre sale was only open to lpu members which fork out 60 bucks a year. fuck that if they were 100 dollars i would of seen them again but this is stupid. even u2 and jay z cost 100.

shows how linkin park care about their fans

sarcasm_mister

sarcasm_mister said on the 29th Sep, 2010

^^

with you there. how high could their production costs really be? is it cos theres 6 of them in the band so they want just as much as someone in a 3 or 4 piece band.

benr3

benr3 said on the 29th Sep, 2010

Linkin Park will have agreed to a flat rate of pay for the tour. Big bands don't get paid differently depending on ticket sales/price, If the tour goes well the promoter gets rich, if it goes badly the promoter loses money. Linkin Park themselves have nothing to do with it.

Its the promoter we have to thank for the cost of tickets.

benr3

benr3 said on the 29th Sep, 2010

$100 for some of the worst seats in the venue, if you want to see anything you'll be paying around $300

lukey26

lukey26 said on the 29th Sep, 2010

Just pay $15, and go see Saw 3D. Chester is in it, and looks like he's gonna die. Ironically, apparently his character is a rapist.

i just bought my $40 tickets to the second U2 n Jay-z show. im in section 101-1 (look at the seating plan below) the only concern is that my view will be slightly impeded by the stage set up.

the $100 tickets are for GA. so far from being the worst seats in the venue.

the band always moves around. so even if i am right behind the pillar i wont miss much. and ive already got GA tix to the first night so it doesnt bother me.

anyways back to linkin park.

any tips on support act? im hoping that it will be dead letter circus who will be supporting muse in brisbane on the 5th and 6th.

and any news on whether LP will be continuing their pearl jam like official bootleg releases.

Hopefully with the price of tickets they get an international support. Wouldn't mind DLC playing before an international support though (if they have 2 support bands).

MorningAfterboy

MorningAfterboy said on the 30th Sep, 2010

DLC opening for LP would be a great opportunity for those guys. It'll probably be someone like Birds of friggin' Tokyo, though.
