City Riots land Pumpkinssupports

Adelaide’s City Riots have been “handpicked” by Billy Corgan as supports for the Smashing Pumpkins upcoming Australian tour.

The four-piece, who have been working on their debut album with Pumpkins producer Bjorn Thorsrud in the US, will perform five shows with the ’90s rock icons in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane in October.

The news follows a near-death experience for the band’s lead singer Ricky Kradolfer, who was held at knife point in his local post office in suburban Adelaide a few weeks ago. The band have since dusted themselves off, playing a “packed-out” showcase at Brisbane’s BIGSOUND conference last week.

They’ll soon be hitting the road for dual headline shows with Perth’s The Chemist at the Northcote Social Club in Melbourne on 17th September and Jive in Adelaide on 18th September; a show at Spectrum in Sydney on 24th September; and a festival performance at Coaster on the NSW central coast on 25th September.
