Millencolin added toSoundwave, Ozzy not

Legendary Swedish punks Millencolin have been added to the Soundwave Festival 2011 lineup. Since the festival announced the bulk of the lineup in August there have been several additions to the bill – including The Amity Affliction, H20 and Bring Me The Horizon.

Many punters have been quick to leap on the news, revealed on 60 Minutes last night, that that Ozzy Osbourne is planning on touring Australia early next year, the Black Sabbath frontman will not be joining the Soundwave lineup as the third headliner.

However Soundwave has denied the rumour (and hopeful wishes) by declaring that “Ozzy won’t be joining us. For VERY obvious reasons. In fact, it’s surprising to hear this asked.”

That “VERY obvious reason” is the bad blood between Ozzy and Soundwave 2011 headliners Iron Maiden. In 2005 Sharon Osbourne allegedly arranged for eggs to be thrown at Iron Maiden while they played at the Ozzfest, after Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson had made some comments on stage that she disliked.

As Ozzy told the Quietus earlier this year “You know what? Unbeknown to me, every night he was going on stage slagging me off. And that wasn’t fair. If he didn’t like the fuckin’ tour, he should have said “I’m jumping [off] the fuckin’ tour”, but to go on stage and fuckin’ slag me off for no reason… I’d never said a fuckin’ bad thing to him… Sharon got pissed off… it was nothing to do with me… But you know what? [Maiden were getting] a few fuckin’ quid out of that Ozzfest. If you’ve got something to talk to me about, be a man. Come to my face and say, “I think you’re a fuckin’ asshole.” Don’t be a fuckin’ idiot. It’s so pathetically childish.”
