Good Vibrations 2011 lineupleaks early?

After a much anticipation, speculation and sleuthing the curtain was set to finally be drawn on the 2011 lineup for the Good Vibrations festival early tomorrow morning, but as is seemingly the case in the modern age of the internet, the whole shebang has leaked early.

A Good Vibes blog partner made the gaff and posted the 2011 complete lineup this afternoon, only to hastily remove it. But eagle eyed forum hounds were quick to screenshot the leak and now we know some of the acts that festival organisers Jam Music will be bringing our way this summer.

Coming in at the top of the bill on the leaked version of the lineup are long-time Australian hold-outs Faithless, who’ll at last make good on their promise to return to the country and parade their new album The Dance. Also joining the fray are French crossover kings Phoenix and an enviable hip-hop lineup with the likes of Ludacris, Janelle Monae, Erykah Badu and Cee-Lo Green stacking up along with indie dance groups Friendly Fires and Miike Snow and plenty of DJs including Rusko and Sidney Sampson.

We have to stress that this leaked lineup is indeed just that and we could see a different looking list when the scheduled announcement lands tomorrow morning. When FasterLouder contacted Jam Music for a statement on the leak, the festival crew could only say that the full Good Vibrations lineup will be announced at 9AM tomorrow.

Leaked Good Vibrations 2011 lineup:
Faithless
Phoenix
Sasha
Nas & Damian Marley
Cee Lo Green
Kelis
Ludacris
Erykah Badu
Friendly Fires
Miike Snow
Fake Blood
Rusko
Sidney Sampson
Janelle Monae
Mike Posner
Yolanda Be Cool
Koolism
Kill The Noise
Tim & Jean

Seeing them twice in 5 days was a dream come true. Werchter was actually the highlight for me. They played well into the night so lighting was in full flight. They also played for an extra half hour or so, which gave them time to play Salva Mea, all of Drifting Away (not just the opera bit at start) and Muhammad Ali (and some others).

No Salva Mea at Glasto was pretty devastating to be honest.

Gotta admit, The Killers exceeded all the little expectations I had of them at V Fest. Much better than I thought they would be.

Nas & Damien Marley would be sick.

That's a pretty fine looking lineup if it's for real. Luda, Nas, Friendly Fires, Phoenix, Sasha and most of all Faithless.

Janelle, I need to check out her albums.

Also, Kelis and Nas on the same bill...

I feel like nobody's realised the kind of bullshit GVF continually pull, including poor sound quality, last min drop-outs etc. Even more pertinently, anybody ever tried to deal with the punters at that festival? C*nts of the highest order. You might be there for Nas or Phoenix, but they just came to gobble pills.

ThatDude123

ThatDude123 said on the 9th Sep, 2010

A similar argument occurs with Soundwave (minus the punters; metalheads and emos are a surprisingly nice bunch) until they release their lineup.

I guess we are gullible fools sold on the promise of good acts? Especially when Jam hates doing sideshows.

jonnoseidler

jonnoseidler said on the 9th Sep, 2010

I'd prefer cement city of Soundwave and the black shirt clan to the coked up spray tanned fuckwits of GVF any summer day of the week.

Yeah, that no sideshows thing is ridiculous.

ThatDude123

ThatDude123 said on the 9th Sep, 2010

Just the long wait times, mismanagement of logistics, bands off schedule, many a cancellation and replacement, etc that soundwave shares. The crowd are way nicer than they're given credit for. But yes, the xerox copies of Jersey Shore characters are pretty much the reason I don't like most festivals.

But if I have to deal with it to see one of my favourite live bands and a handful of very very good acts, so be it :/

lanesra23

lanesra23 said on the 16th Sep, 2010

I've never dabbled in Good Vibes. The last two years it's been on the same day as Soundwave. Even based solely on headlines it was an easy decision both years. NIN vs Fatboy Slim. Faith No More vs The Killers. I gave away free tickets to Good Vibes this year and bought Soundwave tickets instead.

chico21

chico21 said on the 17th Sep, 2010

^ I went to my first one this year, after swearing I wouldn't go. I had a super swell time - Gossip were unbelievably good and fun, Kid Cudi I loved, Salt N Peppa - so lame but fun all the same, Naughty by Nature. It had attracted an older crowd - not so many 18 year olds looking for an excuse to pop pills - more 25-30 yr olds.
Having FF, Phoenix has proved too much to keep me away. I would never have this as a festival I'd go to every year - only when the lineup draws me in.

chico21

chico21 said on the 20th Sep, 2010

they were one of the most memorable acts I've seen. Beth Ditto's voice is out of this world, and she works a crowd so well. They had a tough time too - was pissing down with rain - but everyone just stayed and danced in the rain. It was awesome. Everytime I hear "Heavy Cross" it always takes me back to that day.
