Now in its fifth year, the Jagermeister Independent Music Awards (formally known as the Jagermeister AIR Awards) continues to grow and is now recognised as a barometer for future ‘big’ acts.
The awards are Australia’s only official independent music awards, rewarding the country’s highest achieving independent artists across all genres.
Last year The Drones, Philadelphia Grand Jury, Art Vs Science and Bertie Blackman took home awards, while other past winners include Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, The Hilltop Hoods, The Herd, Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Gotye, British India, Sneaky Sound System and John Butler.
The 2010 awards will be presented as part of ‘Melbourne Music’ – a 10-day music festival programme presented by The City of Melbourne – on Friday 1st October at The Forum Theatre in Melbourne.
Performers on the night will include Amity Affliction, Cloud Control, Joe Chindamo, British India, Sally Seltmann, and a hip-hop extravaganza from M-Phazes with Illy, Muph, Candice Monique, Solo and Mantra.
