Silversun Pickups headline gig

Whilst in Australia to play at the Coaster Festival and support Birds Of Tokyo on a national tour Silversun Pickups will play a single headline gig.

The Los Angeles quartet has won fans over with an enchanting breed of shoe-gazing indie rock, featuring dreamy melodies and passionate refrains. The band’s 2006 breakthrough debut album, Carnavas, delivered indie hits Lazy Eye and Well Thought Out Twinkles. Their most recent offering, Swoon, features the muddy guitar fuzz and free flowing Eno-esque soundscape that Silversun Pickups has distinctively claimed and carved out as their own.

As drummer Chris Guanlao told FasterLouder “Our natural progression is to take it to another level. We didn’t want to just put out something that was similar to Carnavas. On Carnavas we took out a lot of organic sounds, like acoustic guitars and strings, and on this record we made a conscious effort to put it back in, because we wanted to get it feeling more organic, and have a different mood to it. We grew as musicians. We’re a little more patient with our music, with the songs, and we weren’t so locked into a groove – we experimented a lot with different beats, different styles.”

The exclusive, intimate headline show will be a real treat for fans and is sure to sell out extremely fast.
