Lilith Fair coming toAustralia
Mon 23rd Aug, 2010 in Local News
The rumours have been circulating since May and now it has been confirmed that Lilith Fair is coming to Australia, albeit a truncated version of the original event.
It was announced over the weekend that Canadian musician and Lilith Fair founder Sarah McLachlan will be bringing A Tatse Of Lilith to our shores this October. The tour will see McLachlan playing a show at the One Movement for Music Festival in Perth and then completeing a run of national theatre dates.
Joining her for the tour is Court Yard Hounds the rootsy alter-ego of Martie Maguire and Emily Robison of the Dixie Chicks, Brisbane quirkette Kate Miller-Heidke and Ella and Jesse Hooper’s new collaboration, The Verses.
Lilith Fair was founded by Sarah McLachlan as an all-female festival which ran with huge success in America between 1997 and 1999. The festival ran for the first time in over a decade this year, with an initial line-up that included the likes of Sia, Norah Jones, Mary J. Blige, Sheryl Crow and Erykah Badu. However, its re-launch was marred with artist cancellations and poor sales, due to one of the United States’ worst summer’s for live music.
You can catch A Taste Of Lilith featuring Sarah McLachlan, Court Yard Hounds, Kate Miller-Heidke and The Verses this October:
Monday 4 October – Enmore Theatre, Sydney
Friday 8 October- One Movement for Music by Twilight, Perth
Sunday 10 October- Adelaide Entertainment Centre Theatre
Tuesday 12 October- Palais Theatre, Melbourne
Saturday 16 October – Convention Centre, Brisbane
General public tickets to all shows (excluding Perth) go on sale at 9.00am on Thursday, 2nd September.
