When speaking with FasterLouder last year Tim Heath, guitarist for Melbourne favourites The Basics, admitted that he and fellow members Wally De Backer and Kris Schroeder have “always liked bands that have done something different.” It is this sentiment that has inspired the band to keep their own approach to music fresh, whether it be through changing their sound, naked press photos or, releasing an album for free.
On Friday 20th August The Basics will release their fourth album digitally, for free! The self-titled LP (which according to the press release is officially titled ðə’bæzɪtʃ, or phentically speaking “the baz-itch” ) was recorded in front of a live studio audience at The Northcote Social Club and will be made available exclusively from FreeBasicsAlbum.com at the end of this week.
Like its predecessor Keep Your Friends Close, the album was mixed at the famed Abbey Road studios. FL is exclusively hosting the new video for the first single Better which you can check out now on FLTV.
