Back in April LCD Soundsystem’s fearless leader James Murphy dropped the bittersweet bombshell that the band’s visit for Splendour In The Grass would be part of its “last tour”.
However, on-stage at Melbourne’s Festival Hall last night, Murphy gave fans something to rejoice about.
In the midst of a knockout show, the frontman informed the crowd that this swansong circuit of the world won’t be ending any time soon. In fact, LCD Soundsystem will continue to tour for the next year, visiting Australia again at least once, if not twice before hanging its hat. We can only hope Murphy stays true to his word, because the Melbourne and Sydney sideshows saw the band in thrilling form.
Would it be too far-fetched to expect to see LCD Soundsystem back as soon as this summer for another festival tour? We can think of a few we’d like to see them at. In the meantime, Murphy and co. will dance themselves clean in the Mix-Up Tent at Splendour In The Grass tonight.
