Melbourne pop-punkers The Getaway Plan will reunite for a one-off show in Melbourne this September.

The band controversially announced their split in February 2009, stating that “There comes a point in everyone’s lives where they must sit back and assess if everything is working the way it should be”.

The split shocked many of the band’s ardent fans, as it came just as The Getaway Plan was gaining heightened mainstream attention. Their debut album Other Voices, Other Rooms had gone to number one on the AIR charts and peaked at 14 on the ARIA charts, whilst they had also secured airplay on Nova radio.

The band has chosen to reunite in support of the not-for-profit music event, REVIVAL – This Is Not The End Off Your Story_ which aims to raise awareness of young people suffering from depression and mental health issues. The gig is running in partnership with To Write Live On Her Arms (TWLOHA), a movement which supports youth struggling with these issues.

The Getaway Plan will play two shows (one all ages) at Billboard in Melbourne, with supports from Stealing O’Neal, Built On Secrets, Secrets In Scale and Cheerleader
