Soundwave confirms twelfthband, leaks lineup clues
Wed 21st Jul, 2010 in Local News
FasterLouder reported earlier this month that Asking Alexandria were very likely to be confirmed for a place on the Soundwave 2011 lineup and now it’s 100% official – the North Yorkshire post-hardcore group will be making an appearance at the festival next year.
Soundwave organiser AJ Maddah has also kept Twitter busy in recent days, letting punters know of a few acts they can cross off the list of hopeful additional to the 2011Soundwave lineup.
Among the revelations, Maddah has noted that Jimmy Eat World have already been invited to Soundwave 2012 and that he’d “have them every year if [he] could!”.
He also “wanted desperately to book” Miami heavy metal band Black Tide and although “there was no room left” on the lineup for Soundwave he assures fans that the band will “be back in Aus in 2011”.
Lacuna Coil are also nonstarters for the Soundwave festival tour, but are promised as a “headline tour late 2011” and although Maddah also tried to get Something Corporate on the bill there is “no chance” of the bands being announced on the line up for next year.
Maddah has noted that he counts “11 bands on the line-up that have done previous SWs going back to 1st one in 2003” but so far only two of these repeat Soundwave acts – All That Remains and Less Than Jake – have been announced to play on one of the festival’s seven stages.
The full Soundwave lineup announcement is due on Thursday 5th August.
