The Chemical Brothers tour

Nearly 20 years into their career and the pull of UK duo The Chemical Brothers still stands out as strong as ever. For those who hoping, praying and holding their breath for a local return from the duo of Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons the wait is over!

Having wowed local audiences with their headline slot on the Future Music Festival back in 2008, the legendary UK pair will be bringing their sensory-altering live set-up back to Australia in 2011.

“It’s always exciting for us to come back to Australia,” ‘Chems mainstay Tom Rowlands told FL’s sister site inthemix in the duo’s first Australian interview. “As our music has progressed our live show has moved onwards too. It should be fun to bring our big psychedelic extravaganza to somewhere that’s as up for it as Australia always is.”

Chemical Brothers 2011 Australian tour dates:

The Riverstage, Brisbane – Friday March 4th, 2011
Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne – Wednesday March 9th, 2011
Sydney Entertainment Centre, Sydney – Thursday March 10th, 2011

Tickets on sale August 5th for Melbourne and Brisbane and August 6th for Sydney.

if they could have a concert with chemical brothers, daft punk, presets and pendulum i would die. there was that time daft punk toured being supported by the presets and i was overseas. most, most, most upsetting

If Faithless end up coming at the beginning of next year that means 5 of the big 6 will grace our shores between March '10 and March '11. Bit of a stretch to include Orbital when Australia is so ignorant to their awesomeness.

Chemical Brothers will struggle immensely to top Orbital's performance at Glasto...I hope they do because I will be there.

Chemical Brothers at a festival would be nowhere near as good. I will have to decide for myself which is the best forum to see them after i go to all 5 futures and 3 arena shows to see them

Yeah they played at Future about three years ago I think. I went to future this year and it was AWFUL. I hate the crowd that goes to future. I think I'd rather see more of them at a concert, I'm sure they'll have a wicked supporting act too.... I hope. anyway, I never mind an opportunity to go to brisvegas :)

track 2 escape velocity is a 11 min plus monster and i'm pretty sure the rest of the tracks arent much under 4-5mins apiece.
its not a short album by any stretch and i think its one of their better ones.
hope they announce their own show in perth and wont be attached to some horrible festival.

I loved futures this year, I dont know why everyone whinges about it, sure the crowd were cunce but they are the same everywhere, I just chilled in the trance room until Franz Ferdinand and it was sweet

the prodigy were insane, one of the best acts of all time. agreed.

I just wasn't wasted enough and so I was very affected by stuff around me. lesson learned: get wasted. :cool:

I like the album but I got over listening to their Orbital impression (Swoon) pretty quickly, which didn't leave too many more highlights.

Well you have to like DJ gigs and what not as well, eg he dj'd 2 sets at a prodigy event not that long i go and from memory he does stuff in Ibiza all through the summer. This year he did an essential mix with Grandmaster Flash and Mark Ronson too.

Yeah I thought the last song was a mix of Dissolve and The Private Psychadelic Reel. The early stuff seemed really rushed to me so I was happy that the old stuff got a decent play out.

When I saw them 3 years ago I missed Hey Boy Hey Girl!!!!!!

I can't believe they play Don't Think though. That is amazing. I will lose my shit at Don't Think/Out of Control/Saturate back to back

in 2008 Saturate was my highlight and it was the first time I had heard it. I always think of blue and red lights and exploding paint balls when I hear that song now

and Out of Control is pretty much my favourite dance song of all time

I found the clowns very weird. I did think they lost it at the end though - the encore was kinda shite. They didn't get the crowd back into it I don't think.

at future or at riverstage? im going to sideshow and future, chems are my favourite dance act in the world so intend on seeing them twice, but if they get crap towards the end maybe i could check out a bit of plastikman

sorry I meant at their gig. but honestly their gig was UNBELIEABLY good. it was just the end that it died so I felt it ended on an odd note. but their main set was crazy good.

they were rad at future - although see plastikman, I've heard really amazing things. I regret not going but I just wasn't in any shape to navigate maps.

Fantastic show at Rod Laver last night, really glad to hear Setting Sun and Private Psychedelic Reel at last. And as mentioned, Don't Think was a definite highlight! Also, Super Flash, is that a new song? Sounded pretty good!

I do miss hearing Sunshine Underground as an encore opener, but if anything could be just as good its the nice build up the Snow/Surface to Air has.

Great set, but ouch, that was one of the loudest shows I've been to in ages.
