Music at MelbourneInternational Arts Festival

The 25th Melbourne Festival International Arts Festival has announced a dynamic lineup of musical treats.
Festival highlights this year include “Tomorrow, in a year” featuring the music of electro-pop masters The Knife; performances from Sinead O’Connor, Meshell Ndegeocello,Rickie Lee Jones, Gurrumul Yunupingu and The Black Arm Band; a one-off live performance by John Cale of his Paris 1919 album; and the amazing lineup of the Beck’s Festival Bar at the Forum theatre.
The Festival Bar transforms the iconic Forum Theatre in to a hub of amazing music during the festival with some very impressive acts on the lineup including the long awaited return of Japan’s Boredoms; the psychedelic rock of Dead Meadow; hip hop guru Sage Francis; Sri Lankan extreme metal ensemble Stigmata; the psychedelic pop sounds of Cambodia’s Dengue Fever Chinese indie crew P.K.14; the subtle beauty of indie legends Low; and the closing night headliners – Mariachi El Bronx.
A wealth of local talent rounds out the program, including The Drones, The Break, Pikelet, Eagle & The Worm, Dexter, Kes Band, The Ukeladies, Bum Creek, Blarke Bayer / Black Widow, Horrorshow, Johnnie and The Johnnie Johnnies, The Twerps and Ponzu Island.
