More tickets for The Strokes

A small allocation of extra tickets to The Strokes gig at Festival Hall in Melbourne will be released later this week.

According to triple j, a revision of the production specs for the venue has meant that more fans can squeeze in to enjoy the return of the garage-rock heroes.

Tickets for both the Splendour In The Grass sideshows flew out that door when they went on sale last month, with fans keen to revel in the band’s reunion and get a sneak peek of tracks from the long awaited fourth album.

Speaking to FasterLouder in April this year, Julian Casablancas said that the band was “looking at September for a release date”, however, due to their hectic touring schedule, which includes at headline spot at this year’s Splendour In The Grass the release date has since been pushed out to March of 2011.

The supports for both sideshows have also been announced, with Californian rockers The Like and fellow Splendourites Gypsy & The Cat supporting the Strokes in Sydney and Melbourne.

The extra tickets for the Melbourne show will go on sale this Friday 16th July ay 9am. Stay tuned to FL for all The Strokes lovin’ you can possibly handle.

how come Melbourne gets gypsy and the twat? Are they any good? they're supporting foals as well but for $90 I expect an international, like the drums with Florence. Even the vines would of been good for the strokes.

i agree with oldgregg completely i mean considering the past theyve had kings of leon open for em i figure the strokes could do a little better. that being said i havent heard anything by gypsy and the cat so who knows

Can't be worse than The Mercy Arms who supported them in Melb last time around.

That KOL double bill was magic. Fun times at the Palais.

Story updated - the Like and Gypsy are the supports in BOTH Sydney and Melbourne.

the like are actually pretty decent and definitely worth checking out! debut album comes out on the 30th...

Hey Lucan, the band were sent recordings from a few bands including Faker, Mercy Arms and a couple of others. They listened to them all and it came down to a demo of Mercy Arms tracks and a mastered and widely released Faker album, Mercy Arms were picked.

So just be grateful that you didn't get Faker.

I like Mercy Arms. Shame they aren't around anymore.

Canvas Kites are pretty cool though (the lead singer's current band), saw them support Pains of Being Pure at Heart.
