Sleigh Bells: Diplo’s just“flirting”

Responding to a fans question about a flushing toilet sample on the Diplo produced track Tell Me Why on MIA’s new album /\/\ /\ Y /\, the producer casually dissed the album on Twitter, claiming that the flushing sample is featured “cuz rest of album is a turd”.

However his friend, and fellow /\/\ /\ Y /\ producer, Derek Miller from Sleigh Bells told FasterLouder yesterday that Diplo is just “flirting”.

Miller produced a highlight of /\/\ /\ Y /\ with the track Meds and Feds and has a different view of the album. “I think it’s rad,” Miller raved when FasterLouder spoke to him yesterday.

“I mean it’s a really intense record and I think she’s at a really interesting point in her career… being a new mother has affected the may that she digests information and her out put as well. She has such a strange fucked up approach to pop music, and I love it.”

As for his reaction to Diplo’s shit-stirring ‘turd’ comments: “I really like him, he’s a friend, but he really likes attention; A lot! And I mean that diplomatically,” Miller laughed. “I think he’s just having fun with it; maybe he doesn’t like the record that much but I think he’s mostly just flirting.”
