The Ting Tings cancel tour

British electro-popsters The Ting Tings have cancelled their Australian tour, including their scheduled performance at Splendour In The Grass and On the Brightside this month.

A press release issued this morning cites the rescheduling of the band’s new album to later in 2010, as the reason behind the cancellation.

Refunds will be made available to fans that purchased tickets to either of the Melbourne or Sydney gigs. All tickets purchased using credit card will be automatically refunded, whilst any punters who bought tickets with cash will need to return to the point of purchase to obtain their refunds.

Update: Sydney lads Art Vs Science have been announced as the replacement at Spelndour In The Grass and On the Brightside..

I didn't know Ting Tings had the power to cancel Splendour in the Grass. You learn something every day. All hail our new musical overlords!

well given that the middle east has also cancelled splendour and they were also playing otbs... they'd have to replace them - that now 2 out of the 8 bands which were playing...
but as long as the strokes dont cancel i'm happy...

On the Bright Side there are still six bands playing.

Middle East out of Splendour, but is still playing On the Bright Side.

Apparently that pesky "extended recording schedule” can fit in a trip across to Perth, but not a festival in the band's home state. Not really sure how that works...
