The Eagles tour

The Eagles will return to Australia in December for a series of epic three hour long stadium shows featuring all the band’s hits.

The groups’ last visit for in 2004 was a phenomenal success with the group selling out multiple arena venues many times over; including five tour dates at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, which were filmed for the DVD release Farewell 1 Tour – Live from Melbourne.

The Australian tour will follow the band’s appearance at the Austin City Limits festival, where The Eagles will play on a lineup that also includes The Strokes, M.I.A., Muse, LCD Soundsystem, Flaming Lips, Vampire Weekend and The National.

The Eagles tour:

Thursday 2nd December – Sydney Entertainment Centre, Sydney
Monday 6th December – Acer Arena, Sydney
Friday 10th December – nib Stadium, Perth
Monday 13th December – Brisbane Entertainment Centre
Friday 17th December – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne
Saturday 18th December – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne

Tickets on sale Monday 28th June.

In my opinion The Eagles are the most overrated band of all time.

Sure Hotel California is an amazing song, but really, what else did they do?

Their other singles are all pretty middle of the road as far as I'm concerned.

Definitely not in my books. What else did they do? Well, just on a commercial basis, they have the best selling album in American history, tied with Thriller. Every one of their albums has gone platinum, and they still sell out shows practically everywhere they go.

As for their singles? Desperado, Take It Easy, Tequila Sunrise, Lyin' Eyes, Take It To The Limit...classic tracks. And - for me, anyway - I've grown up with their music, so it'll always have a soft spot for me.

That is exactly why I think they are the most overrated band ever. It's not because they weren't good, but the fact that these statistics indicate they should be amongst the best bands ever, which I don't think they even come close to.

Sales can be impressive, but never indicative of true greatness.

I love the Eagles because I love that American "soft rock" sound that was prevalent so much in the seventies - explains why I love Jackson Browne so much as well.

Yeah i don't care what i have to pay I'm there. I too grew up listening to the Eagles. I do actually count them among my favourite bands. Additional to the great songs MAB mentioned, Peaceful easy feeling, witchy woman, James Dean, Take it to the Limit, Already gone, Midnight flyer. They have loads of quality tracks. And i think they stayed consistantly good.
Take it easy was the first Guitar song i ever learn, infact the eagles were the reason I learnt the guitar at all.

I'm with Braveheart on this one. Everything my Dad used to play was generic and sounded like the same album rehashed. That's why it's called Dad music I guess.
The price range is insane, you'd have to be an idiot. I don't remember the last tour being priced this high.

Keep an eye on that to see the prices when they become available. I'd say they're going to do the whole Diamond, Platinum, Gold, Silver, Uranium, Kryptonite, Argon etc... kind of seating plan and ticket pricing with the most expensive being $450 then in increments of $50 downwards with the least being $250 as they'd be obstructed view or no-alcohol areas.

My mum and I were going to see them next time they were here (she missed them last time they were here and regretted it). But with the timing of the concerts, it'll be too much to fly to Melb on top of the ticket prices.
I was looking at the tour dates from the last tour and they had two Adelaide dates (and one Perth date), so I'm guessing Adelaide sold well. Yet this time we get nothing..

That's Hell Freezes Over; the first few songs are done in that acoustic style. That's actually my favourite live version of Hotel California - Joe Walsh and Don Felder are amazing guitarists.

I'd pay well over a grand to see Led Zeppelin. Only band I can honestly say I'd do that for though, not including The Beatles.

First Sydney gig sold out - new show added on Friday i 3 December at Sydney Entertainment Centre.

Extra gigs in Brissie and Melbourne as well: Tuesday 14 December at Brisbane Entertainment Centre and Tuesday 21 December at Rod Laver Arena.

Your second point is misguided. I think the Eagles should show some respect by charging a reasonable price for a ticket.

The band has now sold out two Sydneys shows and three in Melbourne and added another concert - Wed 22 December - Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne. On sale on Monday.
