The Cat Empire's new albumleaked for $200

A promotional copy of The Cat Empire’s unreleased new album Cinema sold on eBay this week for $200.

The album will be released on June 25th, but an advance copy found its way onto the popular auction website. Though the seller remains unknown, EMI is investigating the situation.

The incident prompted EMI to send a warning to media, who are provided promotional copies for review that the music should not be “shared, sold or commercially exploited”.

The record company acknowledged how pleased they were that fans would be willing to pay $200 for the music, but requested, “In future we ask that all of our media partners please keep any new music and advance samplers in confidence.”
