Two of the most influential bands to emerge from the UK and US punk scenes in the late 70s, Blondie and The Pretenders, have announced a co-headline tour of Australia as part of the A Day on the Green winery shows in November and December.

Led by the irrepressible Deborah Harry, Blondie embarked on a word tour in 2008 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their seminal album Parallel Lines, and a year later announced that they had started recording the band’s eighth studio album.

The Pretenders were last in Australia three years ago as part of the A Day on the Green concerts showing off tracks from their most recent album Break Up the Concrete. The band’s leading lady Chrissie Hynde has an unashamed love for Australia, and in her own words “can’t wait to rock out down under” once again.

The tour will see Chrissie and Debbie play concerts in each capital city, including sideshows in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra. Supporting them the ‘A Day on the Green’ shows will be Melbourne’s doo-wop revivalists Little Red and Australia’s own first lady of rock, Adalita.

Saturday 27th November – A Day On The Green – Peter Lehmann Wines, Barossa Valley
Wednesday 1st December – Palais Theatre, Melbourne
Saturday 4th December – A Day On The Green – Rochford Wines, Yarra Valley
Sunday 5th December – A Day On The Green – Josef Chromy Wines, Launceton
Tuesday 7th December – Enmore Theatre, Sydney
Saturday 11th December – Bimbadgen Estate, Hunter Valley
Sunday 12th December – A Day On The Green – Sirromet Wines, Mt Cotton
Tuesday 14th December – Royal Theatre, Canberra

Tickets on sale June 15th for all cities except Perth which is on sale June 14th.
