Each year at Splendour In The Grass FasterLouder heads backstage to get up close and personal with the bands. In the past we have plied bands with alcohol in our Tiki Bar, given them a chance to show off their ‘arty side’ in our FL painting studio and challenged them to the FL Splendour Pop Quiz.

We are very excited to announce that this year – to help celebrate Splendour’s 10th anniversary – we will be creating a backstage photo studio, where we can capture the bands in all their festival glory. To make the studio extra special we have enlisted the help of one of Australia’s leading music photographers, Dan Boud, to step behind the lens for the weekend.

Over the last seven year’s Dan has gone from a web designer with a “passing interest in photography” to one of music photography’s finest. Through both his freelance work and in his role as Chief Photographer for Time Out Magazine, Boud has designed photo shoots with everyone from Empire Of The Sun and Peter Garrett to Cate Blanchett.

If you have ever jostled around a photo pit in Sydney, you would also be quite familiar with the side of Dan’s head. Since picking a camera all those years ago, Dan has become on the city’s most prolific live music photographers, documenting the careers of countless local bands and shooting some of the world’s most iconic acts including Pearl Jam, Iggy Pop and AC/DC.

Given all of Dan’s mighty fine credentials, we couldn’t think of anyone better to help us capture something special backstage at Splendour In The Grass 2010.
