Rufus Wainwright tour
Wed 26th May, 2010 in Local News
Rufus Wainwright has announced that he is returning to Australia this October to play the Sydney Opera House, with more national dates to be confirmed soon.
The Opera House concert is a thank you to his loyal and understanding fans who had bought tickets expecting to see him perform solo in Sydney back in February. That show was cancelled as Wainwright’s mother was gravely ill with cancer and later died.
Wainwright, 36, has been dubbed a ‘baroque pop star’, highlighting his ability to navigate the border between pop and classical music.
His latest album All Days Are Nights: songs for Lulu is a dark and emotional journey, but the singer reassures his fans: “Don’t be alarmed, I’m no fool and will always make sure to ensure a well rounded evening – be prepared to laugh as well as cry your little eyes out.”
Tickets for his Sydney Opera House concert planned for Thursday 14 October will go on sale next Friday.
