Leonard Cohen returns

Only twelve months after he made us weep with joy, Leonard Cohen is returning to Australia for an encore series of concerts this October.

When the great man graced us with his presence for the first time in twenty-four years last January, he imprinted himself on the minds and souls of all who saw him perform. Those lucky enough to witness one of Cohen’s shows were treated to a showcase of the singer’s immense body of work, including his poetry and music.

FasterLouder’s review of Cohen’s performance at A Day On The Green in Adelaide summed it up perfectly: “As Leonard Cohen recites A Thousand Kisses Deep way into the second hour of his show, the audience is hushed, hanging on every breathy word, completely enraptured. Out in a field with thousands of true believers, it’s like the Sermon on the Mount, but with better poetry (and a smarter suit). This night will be remembered by one and all as one of the truly great performances of our lives.”

Early last year audiences across Australia and New Zealand were privileged to experience the incomparable live talents of Leonard Cohen. Leonard was incredible, but I simply could not afford that price again. If you missed it, and you have a spare couple hundred bucks though, go. You will not regret it.

I agree with Demosthenes. The concert last year was worth every cent. It was superb. His band is absolutely fantastic as well.

Definitely worth seeing. He is a great showman.

I'd just buy The Essential Leonard Cohen Collection or similar.

His great songs really span his entire career and unless you want to get lots of albums it's probably a good way to go.

But yeah The Esential is a great collection, once you buy individual albums you'll end up with them all as they are so great! You can get most for $10 these days...

I don't think that really applies for Leonard Cohen though. His albums are more just collections of songs (evidenced by album names such as Recent Songs and Ten New Songs).

If you're talking albums though, you can't miss I'm Your Man which has First We Take Manhattan, Everybody Knows, and Tower of Song.

If you're talking albums though, you can't miss I'm Your Man which has First We Take Manhattan, Everybody Knows, and Tower of Song.

This is the only album of his that I have. I like it. Some of the 80s synth pop moments are so cheesy it makes me giggle.

Tower of Song is brilliant.

will try for better tickets on wednesday, I want to be closer if I'm going to pay big bucks for him (cohen is worth every cent though) but seriously fuck that huge postage charge!
