Purple Sneakers kick off inMelbourne

To all the indie kids getting sick of their usual haunts, there’s a new place in town.

Purple Sneakers kicks off on Friday June 11, just to prove that indie boys and girls can still look hot in Melbourne’s sub-zero winter conditions.

Purple Sneakers has been helping Sydney’s coolest kids party for some time, but now it’s Melbourne’s chance to show them how it’s really done.

Taking place at the impossibly cool Miss Libertines, Purple Sneakers will be spread out across two rooms, featuring live DJ’s and all things indie.

To get things moving for its Melbourne launch, Purple Sneakers will be getting a little help from talented locals Neon Love, who’ll be performing live in the backroom.

The launch night will also be home to the official Dappled Cities after party, and the ARIA-nominated band promise to get on the decks as well.

Other DJs for the night include PhDJ, M.I.T., Tranterco, Channel V’s Jane Gazzo, Fire! Santa Rosa, Fire! and Lady Noir.

If you recognise the name Purple Sneakers DJs, it’s quite possibly because they’ve been supporting massive international acts over the past five years. Artists like La Roux, Grizzly Bear, Ratatat, The Kills, Santigold and Bloc Party have all enlisted the help of this crew, as well as festivals like Field Day, Big Day Out, Falls Festival, Parklife and the upcoming Splendour in the Grass.
