Pivot: new name, CD and tour
Fri 21st May, 2010 in Local News
Things are very busy for Pivot with a new album Church With No Magic, a national tour and a forced name change.
The band will now be known as PVT after a legal claim from a progressive metal band in the United States that also used the Pivot name.
PVT’s guitar and bass player Richard Pike, has explained the change saying that “It was frustrating and kind of ridiculous, but it became quickly obvious that it was a legal battle in the US we may not even win, and one we just couldn’t afford to lose. So in the end, we weren’t phased by it. Altering the name just seemed to be another step in the process for the record to come out and be heard… At the end of the day it’s small change, and we hope you’ll adjust to as quickly as we have.”
With the new names comes a new album Church With No Magic, set for release on 16 July, which will be followed by a national tour.
PVT’s Church With No Magic launch tour:
Friday 6 August – The Rosemount, Perth
Friday 12 August – Corner Hotel, Melbourne
Thursday 19 August – The Zoo, Brisbane
Saturday 21 August – Manning Bar, Sydney
