On The Bright Side 2010festival lineup

FOR THE 2011 ON THE BRIGHT SIDE LINE-UP HEAD HERE

It’s official – the On The Bright Side festival is bringing The Strokes and Mumford and Sons to Perth.

The promoters of Splendour in the Grass and Western Australia’s very own Rock-it have teamed up to present the festival right in the heart of Perth and save Perth’s music fans the expense of traveling across the country to see their favourite acts at Splendour.

The inaugural On The Bright Side festival will feature exclusive Perth appearances by international acts The Strokes, Mumford and Sons, Band of Horses, Hot Chip and the Ting Tings.

The first locals announced on the lineup are Angus and Julia Stone,
Bluejuice and the Middle East.

Under the super top at Perth Esplanade, Riverside Drive, Perth (subject to council approval)

gah i am flying from perth to melbourne to see all these bands... oh well, perth doesn't get lcd soundsystem, so that makes me happy i am going.

pre sale tickets are out 126.50 inc booking fee. thats pretty pricey for 7 bands that are already in the country. probably only one stage. i'm not really feeling better about missing splendour

$126 for the Strokes, Mumford, Band of Horses, Hot Chip and more is pricey for Perth? What the hell are you smoking? The bands might be in the country but it's no small flight across to WA - it's like living in Bulgeria and complaining that the bands playing Glastonbury never come to play sideshows.

apparently some awesome drugs? i was sure soundwave was only about that, with 60 odd awesome bands, apparently not. meh bought tickets. gone are the good old days of festivals for about $100 or less some times.

Depends on how you look at it. Florence atm are doing their own sideshow in Perth, with a ticket being almost $90. I'm happy with $120 or there about for a Splendour-Lite

How many bands can you watch at once though? Soundwave might have lots of 'awesome' bands if you like those genres, but most of them are pretty niche in Australia and those bands can't really tour to play anything but small venues on their own.

The Strokes, Mumford and Sons and Hot Chip are all able to sell out pretty big venues by themselves.

Amongst all the Splendour hype I totally forgot about this. Hopefully a repeat of last years lineup style (one higher billed Splendour act, several smaller internationals and a few locals) if it happens. I'd be stoked to see Mars Volta/Modest Mouse/Kaiser Chiefs on there.
