When it comes to rising Brisbane bands, Ball Park Music is one of the top of the pack. Fresh from recording their new release bassist Jen Boyce caught up with fasterlouder for a few quick questions.
It’s been about a year since the release of your mini-ep, has it been a bit of a roller coaster ride for the band?“Yes there’s been a lot of exciting things happen in a year. For example this time last year I couldn’t imagine we’d be playing gigs like Philadelphia Grand Jury and John Steel Singers at The Zoo! Or going to Sydney with Hungry Kids of Hungary. I guess we’ve worked pretty hard during the year (considering we’re all still at Uni) and have achieved some pretty cool stuff that I never expected we’d get, especially this soon.”
You’re playing with Tin Can Radio and Blame Ringo, are you excited to play with these two?I always love the bands we play with, there’s so many amazing Brisbane bands and we’re lucky to be friends with so many of them. We’ve known Blame Ringo for ages and are good buddies, but I haven’t met Tin Can Radio before, but I’ve been hearing a LOT of good stuff so I’m very excited to see them!
You recently came under the management of Mucho Bravado, was this a big step for the band?
“It was really a big relief to get management! We were getting pretty busy and it started to get too much to organise for ourselves… It got to the point where we couldn’t reply to every email and organise every gig. So, we enlisted the help of the lovely Mucho Bravado people! They’ve been so helpful and we love them a lot. It makes all our lives a little easier!”
See Ball Park Music launch their new album Conquer The Town, Easy As Cake with Blame Ringo and Tin Can Radio at The Zoo, Friday 21st May at The Zoo.
