Music Video Mash Up Screenings
Mon 10th May, 2010 in Local News
Ever wondered exactly who the brains behind your favourite music videos are? Ever wondered how you could become the creator of a music video? Ever wanted to make a music video for your band and be in the running to goodies to the worth of $2000?
Well, 20 lucky filmmakers and bands from across the state have been lucky enough to be selected to partake in the 2010 The Music Video Mash Up filmmaking competition, sponsored by Ground Floor Pictures and Brisbane City Council. Bands including Skinny Jean, Drawn From Bees and Dance Hall Paradiso were randomly allocated a filmmaking team and had just three days to create, shoot and edit a video clip, to go into the running to win a package worth $2000, for their clip to appear on Video Hits and various other amazing prizes.
The results of this three day mayhem of music video madness is set to be screened this Thursday, 13th May at The Schonell Theatre at the UQ St Lucia campus. With tickets only $10 (doors at 5.30pm), and the promise of videos featuring an entire cardboard city, explosions (yes really), and some rather impressive vintage automobiles to hit the screen, make sure you head along to catch some of Queensland’s up and coming filmmakers and bands.
The official awards night for the Music Video Mash Up will take place on Tuesday 18th May at the Powerhouse (doors at 6.30pm). Local act Rokeby will play, and over $10,000 worth of prizes will be given away….and there is even an after party at Strike Bowling in the City with a free drink on arrival and free bowling lanes for after party celebrations. So make sure you get out and support this amazing competition, who knows perhaps the next Trish Sie will be discovered.
