In the least surprising news since Alf won the Gold Logie, Metallica has announced three extra shows for their Australian tour this October.

The metal Gods will now be flexing their muscle at second shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Despite the fact that tickets are yet to officially go on sale (Thursday May 13 for those wondering), demand during the pre-sale was so high the band has announced the additional shows in advance.

The shows themselves are set to be no less than spectacular, with the band playing songs their entire back-catalogue for more than two hours ‘in the round’. We suspect there will also be lots of explosions and fire.

Get magnified with Metallica at the following shows this Oct/Nov:

Monday 18th October – Entertainment Centre, Brisbane
Tuesday 19th October – Entertainment Centre, Brisbane JUST ADDED
Friday 22nd October – Burswood Dome, Perth
Wednesday 10th November – ACER Arena, Sydney
Thursday 11th November – ACER Arena, Sydney JUST ADDED
Monday 15th November – Entertainment Centre, Adelaide
Thursday 18th November – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne
Saturday 20th November – Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne JUST ADDED

maybe a 3rd show is on the cards? standing room seems to be gone for 2nd show as well :( or will they release more next week for general sale?

there is still a 4 day gap between the 2nd sydney show and first adelaide show. so i would be surprised if they dont add a 3rd.

i was trying for melbourne tickets, in the end after telling me all the seats were gone i managed to grab 2 seats in the upper section but i'm just glad i'm going!

...whilst i feel kinda over them i hope it's a good show and they play a couple of songs off 'justice'

They played a stack of Ride the Lightning when I saw them. Only played One from Justice though.

That should suffice, last time i saw them was actually on the justice for all tour so they played a large portion of the album, and had the colloseum-style stage-set.

Even so they could play anything over the next three shows, the only guarantee it seems is that they will close with Hit The Lights

There was a shocking incident caught on tape during Metallica’s November 11 show at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia.

It happened during the performance of “Seek And Destroy,” with the house lights on and the stage filled with huge black balloons.

Guitarist Kirk Hammett wandered through the crowded stage, kicking balloons at random; at one point, he unknowingly kicks a small child while following through on one of the balloons.

The child is seen to be thrown backwards in the air, landing in the crowd.

It’s unclear, from the audience-shot footage, if Hammett kicked the child directly, or if the youth was simply thrown by the guitarist’s foot connecting with the balloon.

Following the kick, a roadie can be seen rushing the child across the stage, presumably headed somewhere for further attention.

Blabbermouth is reporting that the child - rumored to be Metallica frontman James Hetfield's son - was not believed to have been injured during the mishap.

The way the kid went backwards, it looked to me like Hammett kicked the balloon that the kid was holding.

It really didn't look too bad.

As Tyler would say, the kid should have known what he was getting himself in for and dealt with it. Getting kicked in the head is just part of being in the mosh.
