Big Sound 2010: Speakerannouncement and early birdtickets on sale

Now in it’s ninth year, the Big Sound music industry conference has become a key event on the music industry calendar. Over the past few years it has seen acts like the Temper Trap and the Middle East have significant success due to the conference.

This year is going to be no exception with the first round of industry speakers including Michael Azerrad, Dave Faulkner, John O’Donnell, Rae Harvey, Nicky Steid and Peter Jespersen.

Michael Azerrad is a very well known and respected music writer from the US who wrote ‘Come As You Are- The Story of Nirvana’ which has sold more than 300,000 copies worldwide.

Dave Faulkner is a legendary Australian artist is the frontman of the Hoodoo Gurus.

Rae Harvey is the manager of successful bands: The Living End, Gyroscope and Children Collide.

John O’Donnell (2010 keynote speaker) has been instrumental to the success of Australian artists such as Missy Higgins, Empire of the Sun, silverchair and Something For Kate and has recently taken over managing Cold Chisel.

Nicky Steid is a UK music lawyer who takes care of clients such as Vampire Weekend, The Kooks, Hot Chip, La Roux, The Script and The Temper Trap.

Peter Jespersen is the senior vice president of A&R at US label New West records who looks after artists such as Ben Lee, Steve Earle and The Drive By truckers.

With artist submissions now open for the 40 showcase spots of Australia’s hottest new acts, it’s time for bands to start applying.

Big Sound is presented by Q Music and is also supported by Eco Fund QLD who will receive $2 for every ticket sold to go towards their ‘Balance the Earth trust’.

Early bird tickets are now on sale at a discounted price with delegates receiving a priceless amount of information from the industry’s best and countless networking opportunities.
