In an interview with FasterLouder earlier this morning Courtney Love quashed rumours that she is planning to change her name to Courtney Michelle, as reported yesterday by the NME.

Speaking to FL from the famed Chateau Marmont in LA hours before she was due on stage to kick off Hole’s first US tour in nearly a decade, Love assured FL that the story was a load of codswobble (our word).

According to the first lady of rock, the report came from a drunken conversation she had with a reporter after the official interview had finished. “The interview was over… and we start drinking Rosé. And you know I’m a lightweight, I can’t really drink that much so I drink two glasses and I’m fucking ten sheets to the wind and I’m like ‘You know my middle name is Michelle.’”

“What I was trying to explain to that idiot is [that] basically I was trying to make a list of things I do like twitter or facebook, that get me into trouble as apposed to what I don’t. I just made a list of things that go into the name [Courtney Love ] and I want to distance myself from that behavior. Nothing about changing my name”.
