Haiti earthquake benefit

The past few years have shown just how good the Melbourne Music community is at supporting and raising money for significant causes.
The various Bushfire Relief efforts were extremely successful in gathering much-needed funds, even prompting a Thank-You concert in return from victims of the fires.
Yet last year’s earthquake in Haiti, however, did not prompt the same scale of support, despite the deaths of over 200,000 people and further impact on the lives of an estimated 1,000,000.
Yele Ayiti 2010 will take place this weekend at the Hifi to raise much-needed funds for Haiti and its earthquake victims.
The event will feature former Avalanches’ DJ Dexter and his Grrilla Step project, which fuses Krump and Polynesian dance styles in a grimy hip-hop context.
Public Opinion Afrobeat Orchestra and Culture Connect will also take the stage amongst a slew of world and hip-hop DJ’s, with all proceeds going towards the Haitian relief effort.
