Splendour In The Grass line-upannounced tomorrow

Tomorrow morning FasterLouder will announce the official Splendour In The Grass line-up for 2010 ending months of speculation and forum gossip.

The rumours have been flying thick and fast this year, the most recent one spurred by a message on Richard Ashcroft’s website announcing that his new band has been confirmed to play the festival.

There has also been that Goldfrapp leak, Pixies New Zeland tour announcement and a few suspiciously-close-toSpelndour tours including Mumford and Sons, 30 Seconds To Mars, The Temper Trap and The Strokes, which have all kept the rumour-mill churning.

Splendour have already surprised me if 30 seconds to mars are actually playing,
and it's not a very nice surprise...
Anyhoo still have high hopes for some good acts announced tomorrow

Well if Goldfrapp are on board, there is a brissi show - but I guess as gumbuoy has pointed out - need to wait and see.

Also I don't see how being at Woodford is any different to Byron - both are out of the way and about an 1.5 hrs from an airport .

Some bands will play sideshows, some will only do Melb and Syd, it's the same every year.
I had to travel to Syd to see The Specials last year, but was well worth it!

They often have adverts up on the Splendour site for bands who aren't playing. But just judging by their tour schedule and lack of Brisbane show is probably enough to assume they'll be there.

It's not really about band management, it's about the contracts they sign - which is one of the main reasons you see a lot of big festivals not in large cities.

Let's say frontier touring company book you for a Brisbane show, in that clause their will be a statement that says they aren't able to play any other shows in QLD. Rather than missing out on big festivals such as splendor most band's will just skip whatever city that band is playing in.

Splendor can also stipulate that bands aren't allowed to play in the state in their contracts.

Some contracts just specify you can't play another gig in the city, which is why you get lots of festivals at these sites.

will there be any smaller shows around the place the night before like there was at byron? is there even a venue at woodford? maybe daguilar or kilcoy?

middle east last year at the community centre was brilliant..so much better in an intimate setting than the big stage...all quiet..just music..middle east at woodford was terrible people wouldnt shut up

Splendour sells out, 100% guaranteed.
Makes no sense for them not to have sideshows even in the nearest capital city/state of the festival. For other festivals like BDO and SW I can sort of see why, but not splendour.

i agree, nothing shit's me more than going to see someone you've paid to hear and experience and there are people more interested in getting pissed up the back and having a good old catch up. for fucks sake people, go somewhere else for that!

but the likely hood of shutting up a couple of thousand people at a festival is about as positive as meeting the local footy team naked at a Lady BlahBlah concert.

i don't get it...Byron Bay is in New South Wales Right? not Queensland...so why have for the last 9 years, bands been allowed to play in sydney and not brisbane.

once again...disappointed more that excited.
Why get excited about a festival that is just rehashing the same stuff over and over again? where are the bands like PiL, dEUS, Depeche Mode, that never tour here!? now that would be a scoop, except we get the bands who fucking have a residency visa for the amount of visits clocked up over the last couple of years.
