Live At The Waterways hits theGold Coast

The Gold Coast is about to get a wicked dose of live music with the announcement of the all-ages ‘Live At The Waterways’ gigs. The gigs are the brainchild of the Gold Coast Music Industry Association (GCMIA), Arts Queensland and A-Venue.

The first of these drug and alcohol free events is April 17th and will be aimed at showcasing the often overlooked hardcore and metal scene with local lads Mourning Tide headlining. They will be supported by some of the coast’s best up-and-coming metal and thrash bands in Sleepers, The Final Fall, Nine Sons Of Dan and Skinwalkers.

Former members of Sunk Loto and LUMP have formed new heavy rock outfit Electric Horse and they will also be headlining alongside Mourning Tide. The event is set to take place at the Albert Waterways Community Centre.

Mourning Tide have recently returned from the US as they wrapped up recording on their sophomore album, the self-titled Mourning Tide, where they worked with super-producer’s Steve Evetts and Alan Douches. Evetts is known for his work with Dillinger Escape Plan and The Cure while Douches has worked with metal giants Mastodon and Cannibal Corpse as well as punk pioneers The Misfits.

These shows are aimed at bringing more of a live music scene to the Gold Coast area with an interest in getting all ages involved in supporting the thriving music scene that has established itself on the coast. There will be giveaways from Afends Clothing, Mistake Clothing and Darkside Skateboards as well as local businesses getting onboard to support this great initiative.
