The Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) has released a shortlist of twenty songs nominated for the APRA ‘Song of the Year’ award.
Leading the list with pairs of nominations are Karnivool ( All I Know, Set Fire To the Hive ), Sarah Blasko ( All I Want, We Won’t Run ), Powderfinger ( All Of The Dreamers, Burn Your Name ) and Kate Miller-Heidke ( Caught in the Crowd, The Last Day on Earth ).
Other nominees include:
The Middle East for Blood
Bluejuice for Broken Leg
Lisa Mitchell for Coin Laundry
Eskimo Joe for Foreign Land
John Butler Trio for One Way Road
Art Vs Science for Parlez Vous Francais
Empire Of The Sun for We Are The People
Jet for She’s A Genius
The Temper Trap for Sweet Dispostiion
Sia for You’ve Changed.
Guy Sebastian’s duet with Jordin Sparks Art of Love and Troy Cassar-Daley’s Big Big Love have also snared nods.
Previous winners of the award, which has run since 1991, have included Glenn Richards’ One Crowded Hour, Yothu Yindi and Paul Kelly’s Treaty, Missy Higgins’ Scar and Ben Lee’s Catch My Disease, and Straight Lines written by Daniel Johns and Julian Hamilton.
Powderfinger has won twice with Passenger and My Happiness .
The 2010 winner will be announced at the APRA Awards on Monday 21st June.
