Slash headed to Melbourne
Tue 30th Mar, 2010 in Local News
In a move similar to the recent re-branding of failing radio station Vega as Classic Rock, MTV Classic will replace the VH1 station with a playlist of “classic music and artists that have shaped an MTV generation”.
Slash will headline the launch extravaganza for the station, playing tracks from Guns N’ Roses and tracks from his self titled solo album, which is set for release in Australia in early April.
The new album features collaborations with Ian Astbury, Izzy Stradlin, Dave Grohl, Duff McKagan, Chris Cornell, Iggy Pop Andrew Stockdale and even Fergie.
Slash may not have an all star cast with him in Melbourne, but apparently “some of Australia’s finest musicians” will soon be announced on the lineup.
The launch party will kick off MTV Classic when the station goes live on May 1st at 5pm
